    Replacing tie-rods?

My '90 had new rods and sleeves probably about 4 months before I took it off the road. Can I take 'em off and throw them on the '91 safely?

If you can get them out without destroying them and there is no play in them id say you could. New ones would be best, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

Yeah, what he said. If they'll come out OK you'll be fine. Might have to spring for new booties if the ones on the 90 get damaged or something. If you have a 2 jaw puller, and want to get them out with minimal damage, just hook the puller around the centerlink and run the screw up against the end of the threaded part of the tie rod end. They'll pop right out without all the beating and banging that might cause damage.

I'll try that then. The donors I'm taking have less than 2000 miles on them, so they shouldn't be in bad shape. I had replaced all 4 tie-rods and the sleeves so everything is just about brand new. If I have to buy new, I will but I'll try this route first.

Unbolt the nut a little bit, but leave lots of thread left and then smack the nut with a hammer. This should beat it out without mushrooming the threads.
