    Wheel studs.

Somehow three of the lugnuts on my left front wheel in the 85 are siezed on. two back off about 1/8" the third i snapped off with a 24" breaker bar.

Question is, can i replace the studs with the rotor on the spindle, or do i have to take the rotor off the car?

I would take the rotor off and use the 10-ton press but our machinist is going to be out of town for a week. Could have my friend fix it at his tire place. I kinda need to fix it this week, dont think the strip wil let me run with a broken stud.

Hm, Stock front rotors? I wanna say you'll need to pull it off to get the stud back in there. I don't think there is any room to sneak the stud out behind the rotor. Maybe there is but you'll have to hack the backing plate off and still no promises.

Yeah, if the backing plate wasn't there you could probably sneek it out.

If yours are like mine were, they're just plastic so not like its much to remove. Mine were halfway melted off from past caliper failures. Not much to pop the rotor tho so even if you can't get it out its not a big deal.

With that tool, you stand a high probability of cracking the rotor as well as getting the stud out....but hey you would get the stud out!

You can use spacers and lugnuts to pull the studs in, or just hammer them in. I've never used a press...and yeah, you 'll have to pull the rotors off...

I reached behind there today, it felt like i might be able to get the stud out where it was. Ill know better tomorrow when i get the wheel off.

We pressed in studs on my brothers axle with a press. Soooooo nice. just used a piece of heavy wall tubing big enough for the stud to slid in. sat the axle, flange up with the back of the stud on a arbor plate. slide the tube over the stud and press down with 20,000 pounds. goes in like butter.
