painted plenum plate - yay or nay?

This is what the plenum plate on the CV looked like:

    This is all black:

This is with that cheap, crappy looking chrome in a can. I really want to know what you guys think. Honestly, I think I should have stopped when it was black.

It's nice I guess, my personal preference is black background and silver leters and side frame.

I like it a lot man. Only prblem is the silver is going to show the dirt, and you can't clean in all the nooks and crannies. Shoule be the other way around. Having the back black and the raised letters/edges silver would have blended it into the plenum.

or smooth out that background with a dremel so the silver looks better

That fake chrome isn't gonna work for me. I popped the hood and it just screamed ugly. Keep in mind, the digicam and resizing of pics makes it look better that it actually is. I should have used the titanium instead of the chrome for backing. Anyway, I went ahead and messed with it and ended up with it all black. I may do the lettering with the titanium when I get the time.

Shit dude, that chrome idea you had looked great! It would have looked even better with the plenum painted chrome!

Clean off the lettering with a scotchbrite pad so they're aluminum again and call it good.

I plan on painting my plenum with 1200 degree alluminum paint when I do the HO conversion...
I haven't decided what to do with the plate, yet...I'll prolly just paint that with the same stuff...
