    disk brakes on an '84?

    hey guys is it posible to go from all 4 wheels being drums to all 4 wheels being disk brakes on an '84 vicky? and if so what would it take to do so?

    Yes you can. you will need the brake backing plates, calipers, and brake lines off a 92+ Crown Vic, Grand Marquis, or Town Car. Buy new rotors they are under $20 each new. The rear brake lines will require cutting and flaring. I took the new lines attached them to my frame and ran one feed line had to use some 3/16 flare fittings. LincolnMania has another method of doing it, and he can explain it a bit better.

      The fronts are discs on ALL panthers. There are a few upgrade stages to the brakes.

      On the early cars, the PI calipers/pads and larger rear drums (rears also on Towing package cars and wagons)

      95-97 was 4 wheel disc, but with small front rotors (same diameter as the early cars, but better design)

      98-02 big front discs, rear discs. They have the best setup.


      On any of the 95+ Front brake upgrades you will need to replace the upper control arm and all the braking components, including the spindles. The rears will bolt on easily and are an easy swap, except for parking brake cables...
