    Temp Gauge

My '89 doesn't have a temp gauge and I want to install one. I bought an electrical one but, it comes with a sending unit that you are supposed to put in place of the stock one in the intake. What happens if I unplug the one wire going to the current sensor. Isn't that needed for the computer?

Not needed for the computer. Just unplug the old wire and leave it lay. The factory wire and sender are for the idiot light in the dash. Just make sure you use some teflon tape on the threads of the new sender when you install it.

ditto - the one for the computer is located in the heater hose pipe neck on the other side of the intake manifold.

190 - 200 with a stock thermostat is normal. Standard t-stat for these is 195.
