    The New Guy!!

Hey guys I'm Ben, I live a little north of Milwaukee, WI.
I have a Dark Green 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis with a little over 95K mi.
Not too many mods so far, just dual straight-pipe w/ x-pipe from cats back. (Getting some nice looking tips soon) And a K&N air filter. I also have a decent Pioneer CD Player with Pioneer amp and 12" sub. (Just for a little bump in the trunk).
    Mods to come:
~CVPI rear fascia (panel between taillights)
~Real exhaust tips (I'm thinking 3-4" chrome turndowns)
    ~Tinted windows
    ~Tinted taillights
~Aftermarket wheels (16 or 17")...no donking for me.
~Thinking about getting cams, throttle-body spacer, porting/polishing heads, computer chip, anybody have good suggestions for these??
1998 Mercury Grand Marquis 131k~ true duals, 2nd cat removed, H-pipe, Xcelerator Turbo mufflers, PI Manifold, 180* Tstat, K&N drop-in.

Jumbo what's wrong with K&N filters besides the price? They flow air much better then paper type filters. I put on in my truck and I removed the airbox and I noticed the truck pull harder then before so they work for me. I don't know what issues you've had with them though.

Oil from my K&N killed my MAF. The reason they flow better is they allow more trash into the engine. Think about it, if they allow more air into the engine they also allow more contaminates.

I haven't ever had that problem. If you keep it oiled properly it should stop all the crap that could get into the motor. Right now I have a Puralator filter (I borrowed a K&N to try it out) and after 6000 miles it looks new so I don't think there's much contaminents getting to my motor so I bet with a K&N i'd be safe.
