    i´m back again :)

    Dear Panthers,

after an abscenence of about 4 Years or so, I´m back with a new car

My 89er Ford CV wagon was t-boned 3 years ago by a stupid Audi-driver on the Autobahn (he passed right, thats forbidden and than looses control and slammed in the Ford) my insurance paid me out, and the car get into nirwana ;(

But last week, i bougt a new box. Now it´s a 1986 Mercury Colony Park LS. It came direclty from California, it has the blue plates on it, so it spend it´s entire life in CA. Its rust free, exept two bubbles above the tail lights. I don´t know how did they get here, but thats not a big problem

Here some pictures, taken in my Hometown near Munic.

    Greets, Chris

the rust spots above the taillights are due to the fact that the mercury used the ford body and just filled the larger holes with sheet metal and welded it in to make the tail lights fit. The welds are probably rusting out from the inside. A little body work will fix it up, and properly sealed, won't need to be touched again.

+1 on the fill panels. If you look closely, you can see the outline of the Vic taillamp above the Mercury one.

Nice deal on the replacement. Shame the old one got wrecked, but at least you came out of it OK and were able to get another car.

thank vou guys for the warm 2nd welcome

its pity what happend with the cv... if that happend in a compact car... i dont wanna think about that.

thanks for the tips with the rust on the trunk. i can cleary see the sheetmetals, mercury welded in. itll be no big probem for me.

i checked every joint and put grease in it. the brakes where made new in ca so no work for me.
the odometer shows 73000 miles and i think thats the original mileage. the engine runs smooth, no strange sounds, no knock, just the starter and than you only hear the fan!

wow. there's less rust on that than on my 88... and there's hardly any on my 88.

thanks a lot for the warm welcome
i´ve just finished the H4 conversion today (its necessary to get the euro beam pattern - which comes from us - here) i put in 2 relays and 4 seperate fuses, one for each headlight (2 for low and 2 for high beams) so i´ve got more light output (400w in high) the night is bright

The next step is to put in new HEGOs and modern catalytic converters to meet the actual emission standards so i can save a lot of money until i get the "historic license in 2016.
New tires are recommended, actually 225 70 15 are on the rims, thinking about 235 75 15 as on my old CV - but the CV had a 3.55 posi and the CP got a 3.08... worse mileage in city and damn good on the highway... hm...

The casting plug on the upper intake is even present. Very nice.
