Pretty neat to see a police ordered sedan for what eventually became a retail/private sale. Must have been tacked onto a standard fleet order since the report indicates it was part of a fleet order. Pretty low exterior color combo/interior combo configuration.
Of stupid anecdotes, that car and my wagon were serialized the same day and scheduled to be built the same day, but it got out two days ahead of my car. Also, it did not experience the excessively long period between order receival and production starting.

Confirm on the door panels. My 88 has them. I think they were available through 89 and went away in 90 when power windows became standard. I like them because you get a real thing to pull on instead of a strap when you shut the door. Plus no ash tray doors for my kids to break.
There are a few reasons to take that dash trim off. Bulb replacement? Speedometer replacement? Digital clock install (I think it was a delete option this year)? Dash pad replacement? Dash speaker replacement?
If I had space, this is one I would love to add to my fleet. Always wanted a pre-88 PI. There are just so few left that aren't trashed. The color is good for me. It's one of those cars that just checks all my boxes.
The Marti calls out deluxe wheel covers. Not sure those dog dishes are deluxe. What was the deluxe wheel cover in this model year?

The really rare setup is those super base model door panels with the dealer-fitted power windows. Basically its a gang of rocker switches sitting where the hole for the crank went. Each other door has a single switch in that location. I think Pete's 85 had that setup.
