Found out that the Cartier and Signature Town Cars had padded vinyl on the B-pillars and not just standard plastic trim that came on the base models....looks like this may be even more difficult to find than I once thought....

My Signature series has plastic interior trim on the b-pillar. It also has the velour interior, if that makes a difference.

Hmm. Weird. Well I know the Cartiers, at least in 1987, were vinyl covered with a light padding under them. I've heard of both ways on Signatures. This is annoying..

maybe its to do with the seat material. Like the MGMs that had "leather" seats, had the vinyl door panels and cars with velour, had fuzzy door panels. Who knows!

I've never seen the padded pillar trim in any box Town Car, but most the ones I've been in (junkyards) are all signatures or base models. There is a really clean '87 Cartier near where I live. Owner is a really cool guy and it has the half leather/half cloth seats! Maybe it has the padded panels.

marquisman, when I bought my Townie it had a trashed door panel on the driver's side. I bought two brand new replacements from the PO but they had the leather insert instead of the fuzzy velour. It took a couple minutes to swap the inserts out but I sliced my finger on the metal pretty good.

I just gave the idea because, my brothers '88 town car signature has leather and padded interior panels. My mark VI was the same way.

Hmm, well anyone know where I can score one of these elusive padded vinyl B-pillar trim pieces? I am panicking that it will take me a long time to find one.

I have not. Trying to do that as a last result. Can only imagine what they want for it.....
