94 GM making white smoke???

My son has been using my wife's 94 grand Marquis for the last 7 months. He has told me that it has started putting out while smoke. But he says it runs good, with no loss in fuel milage. The oil has no funny color. He hasn't checked the coolent lately. It is a single exhaust so cannot diagnose which side.
He also mentioned that he is getting a ticking noise while driving about 70-75.

Any Ideas on what could cause this? Unfortunately my son is in FL with the car and have no way of checking it myself until about the 2 week in Jan. When he comes back home, with the car.

could be running lean or burning coolant

injectors probably need to be cleaned... fuel system cleaner FTW. My 93 does the same thing, but it's from worn out valve seals... not pure white... more a light gray with mine. Been running it that way for 3 years now. no issues.
