My cars headlights started turning on and off by themselves the other day. Even if I turned the switch to off they would still come on and go off. The only way to stop it is to turn them on manually. can you help. If its the lighting control where is it located?

The LCM is located under the dash to the right of the steering column (near the floor vents). It's the very well vented black box. I would wager you need a new (to you - these are very expensive from a dealer, best to get from a yard) one of those or make sure both of the connectors going into it are making good contact. Though, it may be the sensor on the dash screwing with things or a loose ground somewhere under the dash.

you don't by chance have something sitting on the dash where the sensor is do you? Not entirely sure where it is on the newer stuff but it used to have a little hole in the top of the dash pad.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

on the newer ones I think it's a bubble thing just off the left of the cluster hump.

I've hear fix it yourself, but I bought a 'lifetime warrenty' unit off ebay for my 03 when it flaked out.
Then I found out parts stores & ebay sell Dorman 599-200 plug in repair. A little bit more expensive than the rebuilt ones but if I have to do it again that's what I'll do.
