Speedo gear hold down bolt size?

im using a aod gear for 3.55s in my C4, it read correctly with the AOD but now it reads about 10mph slow

Funny. Wonder why they're different styles, then. This green gear does look like you could cut about 1/2" off the end of the toothed portion and not affect anything.

Interesting about your inaccuracy ... I'll have to count the teeth on this C4 drive gear when I remove the tailhousing again to play with the governor, and also count the teeth on the driven gear that's in the new car currently.

Hm, found a 9 tooth drive gear machined into the C4's tailshaft and a 19 tooth driven gear in the old AOD. From this, I presume this particular AOD has an 8 tooth drive gear (7 tooth would seem to want a 17 tooth driven gear).
