    Charging issues

alright tonight I notice the lights dimming and the airbag light starts flashing, I know what it meant cause about a 2 months ago the alternator went out on me. I got home fine, checked the connections and everything, jumped it with my moms car, fired right up. Put a load on the electrical system to see if it was running of the battery which it was cause it went and started dimming again. Now I know it's possible I got a crappy alternator but is there anything else I should check before hand, we are suppose to get a horrible storm tonight and I'm gonna have to move it so they can plow, I can jump it but later when my mom's at work I won't have that option when I need to move it back. Suggestions?

hook a battery charger to it and let it charge for a while so it will start if you need to move it. As for checking stuff, check the fuse links in the harness between the alternator and the plug on the fender. There may also be one at the starter relay, you'd be looking for the heavy wire that goes forward toward the headlamps.

      Thanks Gadget. Will do.

The other thing I don't get is why the amp light didn't come on, doesn't it usually come on when the Alt stops charging right?

sometimes. I've had them charge, but the idiot light was on, I've also had them quit charging with no warnings. Last one burned up the wiring harness while driving, no idiot lights.

well I dunno, I give up. Looked for the fuse at the relay which I was told to check by my manual when the alt. doesn't charge. But I can't find it. It's shitty out I'm sick of this junk.

Not all of them have a fuse link at the relay, that wiring harness changed slightly every year for whatever reason. Some are at the starter relay, some are in the section between thge alternator and fender, and some are in both places, just because that makes no sense
