film, like plastic film or cosmoline (greasy/sticky stuff)? If its plastic, get it out of there. Cosmoline is fine on the outside. on the inside I'd take a little bit of gas, swish it around in there to dissolve it, and dump it.

fuel sending unit, try rockauto.com, teamfordparts.com, or your friendly neighborhood parts counter. Is it the sender, or just the float? Float is like 6 bucks or something.

That's just to keep it from rusting and to make sure you get a new shiny gas tank when i got my new one the guy flushed it all out to weld on the sump so I'm no sure if it makes a difference... I'd bet on the gas cleaning it off itself anyways and having to go through the pump/injectors, so I'd probably try to rince it out anyways

Damn, you can buy sending units? I had zero luck digging up a carbureted pickup/sending unit when I ditched my EFI, which is why I brazed up my own pickup tube in the first place.

When my ex had to replace just th esending unti on the SilverBullet, it took me a week to find somewhere that just sold the pickup. Found it for 150ish IIRC at Autozone. The pump was similarly priced, and the package deal of pump/sending unit, was 260-290 IIRC.

            Hope it helps

only place i find that knows what i am talking about for a fuel sending unit is the stealership. when i go to Advance or O'Reilly's, they say the pump and sending unit is all in one mount. when i say that it is separate i was told i must be messing with something else since there COMPUTERS show it as being one unit. most of the time, the float goes bad and the sending unit is fine. if anything, a junkyard might have one and can be taken out easily since the sending units are mounted on front side of the tank.
