Cruise control shit and O2 Sensor question

Ok so I got that other Idle SNAFU fixed.

But still don't know what's wrong with the CC. It still floors the gas when the CC is enabled. I'd like to try to get this shit fixed by friday cause I have a semi-long trip I'd like to use the CC on.

Is there a way to check the VSS? Maybe check the voltages coming to/from the VSS, or maybe the amount of resistance the sensor has, or something.

Also I bought some new O2 sensors. I noticed the one on the driver side is definately going to be a BITCH to change. First off, and I can't get my super special o2 sensor socket in there cause for some reason the socket just BARELY slides over the hex part where you would put a box wrench on the O2 sensor to unscrew it. I can't fit any other wrenches in there. Do I have to remove the manifold to change it? Or are there any tricks I don't know about?

    Thanks for any help.

They come out really easy with the engine on the ground next to the car

Actually I've never changed one on a stock manifold, so I can't help you. Might be able to access it from underneath or something though. VSS should either pulse or generate a voltage as it rotates. Not sure if those run on a hall effect type thing like an electronic ignition pickup or if its a like a tiny generator that creates a voltage that varies by speed. Honestly, I'd just buy a new one, or if they're pricey, snag a junkyard unit and toss it in there. I might have one laying around here somewhere, if I have the chance tomorrow I'll look for you.

Alright I'll try and stop by the junkyard today... and I guess I'm just gonna pull that exhaust manifold too... Thank gadget.

Update: I've since gotten my hands on 3 extra VSS's. Still does the same thing. What else should I check or try to replace?
