    fuel tank leak

I have been smelling gas intermittently, assuming it was just due to the car not being warmed up. This morning I found that the seam along the bottom of my fuel tank is damp.

What are the odds that the sending unit seal is leaking and I don't have to replace the tank?

eh, probably not good, but if you're dropping the tank, I would just put a new one in. Have a look up there with a flashlight though, you may get lucky.
