    Just did seafoam. PCV info

It took forever to find the freakin pcv valve but I eventually found it. Once you know what and where it is, its pretty simple. I'm going to do a picture write up to make things easier for the next guy. But for now, the simplest way I would explain it for my EFI is...

    1. Stand in front of passenger side tire and look into the bay. (from side of car)

    2. Stick your hand under the intake manifold and find the big hose the runs along the underside of the big, steel, silver, intake manifold. This hose is connected to the front of the manifold and runs along the underside of the manifold to the back where it goes down and plugs into downward pointing hole.(hole points toward the ground)

    3. The hose is ribbed so I was able to just pull it out.

So basically, follow the semi biggish hose that runs along the underside of the passenger side of the intake manifold, from front to back. The back side is the side (closer to firewall) you want to unplug and pour the seafoam.

I put 2/3s of it in the pcv and the rest in the gas tank. It sounded like it was going to cut out when I was pouring it down the pcv hose but it didnt. I turned the car off and let it sit for 20 min and took a drive.

There was a good amount of smoke and I'm not sure if its just me but the car felt like it pulled smoother and sounds a little bit louder. I still have it in my gas tank so after I finish the tank, I'll change the ignition stuff.

now that you've found it, pull it out again, pull the rubber grommet it sits in, and pull the screen inside the hole and replace those items.

That screen thing looked really clean, should I take a screw and remove it like I've read before?

Yes. What you're looking at is the top of a filter, on the side away from the stuff that it is supposed to filter out, so it should look clean. In other words, you can't tell if it needs replacing or not without removing it. It's not just a simple screen, but a filter that looks like this:

The crosshatched stuff on the one end is the side that faces the pcv valve.

The rubber grommet that it sits in is usually rock hard from age, and may be providing a small vacuum leak. Don't reuse it. They're only a few dollars.

if the grommet is soft, you can recycle it but usually they're so hard that they will shatter if you drop them, or you'll be able to stand on the thing without deforming it. Either situation is not useful.

noted. do you just grab the crankcase filter and pull it out? would think needle nose or something for that

Because of where it is......and how hard it is too reach......a long (and I mean really long) (like over 6" long) wood screw or lag bolt is the best way to get it out.

I had to go to a ford dealer for the screen and the grommet.

I'm a touch confused - As I understand it, all of this goodness lives at the back of the lower intake manifold.

On RockAuto there are two different kinds of grommets, one is indicated as PCV to valve cover - but I don't see one of those in my exploded EFI 302 diagram, just the one between the breather element and PCV valve. The rest don't have a description.
