is a used cam worthless without its matching lifters?????

I got a cam with 94K on it for my HO conversion, and i was told it is useless without matching lifters, because i could spin a cam lobe. I need to know if this is an issue. thanks

Is it a stock HO cam? If so you shouldn't have any problems with lifters, I reused my stockers when I swapped an HO cam in.

As long as the cam was made to work with roller lifters and the valves won't be hitting the pistons you should be fine.

You're fine, so long as the lobes aren't trashed or anything. Roller cams aren't too picky about using different lifters. You can actually just recycle the ones in your engine now if they aren't bad.

You can reuse roller cams with any roller lifters, used or new. With flat-tapped cams you either keep the lifters in the same order they came out, or you buy and 'burn-in' a new set of lifters
