    Spark plug wire question (Motorcraft)

I went with Motorcraft wires as replacement for OEM, for the 1990 Grand Marquis. Here's the question - apologies that it borders on OCD (yeah, i need medicine). Would anyone know the length of the stock wires, by number? Reason I ask is that I like to preserve the original wire routing and remove one wire at a time. Many times the aftermarket Motorcraft (or AC Delco, for that matter) aren't exactly like the OEM (Ford, or GM), since aftermarket Motorcraft may serve several applications. My OEM wires are actually numbered and have the year stamped on them. I'm trying to get by with going one wire at a time - I'd hate to get down to the last one or two and find that I used too long or short a wire on previous wires.

    thanks for any help...

Usually I just lay out the new wires in a row by size and match them up with the old wire as I remove them. It usually works pretty well.

My experience recently with my 77 ford was not that good. The OEM wires were mostly a tad shorter than the aftermarket Motorcraft, but then, after going thru 6 or 7 wires, the damn 8th one was too short! So somehow one of the 'earlier' ones that I had used should have been for #8. Happened to me on a GM truck a few years ago too. Yeah, i need medicine...
