    VV runs rich.

Last week i installed nonfeedback vv carb in place of 2150 just to see how the car runs and the result- it runs very rich: grey/black smoke from exhaust. What could it be? I have dual exhaust on a car with cats and no mufflers. Could this upset factory settings? I took the carb apart and put it together everything looks good. I know this carb is very tunable.

there is a whole kit of tools specific to setting up the VV. I also want to say the VV has some sort of enrichment contraption in there that is supposed to move as the veturi plate opens. Not sure how it works exactly, but make sure that is doing what it ought to be doing.

I think i found why it runs rich. The jets or needles or both are little worn. All i gotta do is screw both jets a little more in. They both wear and have to be adjusted occasionally. I will have to find machinist who can make jets and needles from bronze.
