    timing adjustment?????

hi guys, my uncle and i just adjusted the timing on my stock 5.0 grand merc..... is it set back from the factory or was mine retarted (literally) we advanced the timing then tuned it back a lil till it had no more knocks and holy hell does it pull like a bat out of hell, i can linelock all day if i wanted to, one wheel of course unless i varied from forword to reverse, lol but is the timing from the factory set to be retarted that far???

Yeah, it was for emissions and low grade gas.

It was probably adjusted wrong to start with. To set the timing on an EFI ford, the spout connector is supposed to be removed. Alot of times, it isn't and the timing is backed off way to far. My wagon was like that. Setting it to the factory spec woke it up alot. Once i did the HO conversion I ran an insane amount of timing. It ran awesome with like 15-18* of advance.
