i have a whole rack of allen keys in 3/8" drive sockets. im using socket heads for my valve cover bolts since a hex head bolt wont allow a socket to fit on it. also socket head cap screws have a higher tensile stregnth than even Grade 8, they are grade 10.

Most of my brothers car is assembled with socket heads

I was just going from my experience using those Spectre-brand header bolts with the Allen drive in the middle of the 7/16" hex head so you can spin them in easily with the provided wobble Allen socket. It was very hard to get much torque on the fastener using just the Allen drive, especially on the less accessible bolts.

Yeah, the 3/8 drive allen sockets are tight. I was just using a allen wrench and a closed end wrench to give me a bunch of leverage. That's why I made the 1/4" drive universal thingy. Works MUCH better. headers really don't need a lot of torque either.

Well, well, well, well, I spoke to my engine builder last Friday night when I stopped in. He gave me a number for a local guy that might be able to help me out since he "likes building headers for crazy shit". I'm waiting to get a call back from him, hopefully he'll be able to make something happen in my price range. Amen to the allen cap bolts and screws. Stainless just looks so good too. DuceAnAHalf, do your mid-lengths perform well with nitrous? I know we'll be running different primary diameters, but if so, how long are they?

i dont have anything to compare them to since they are the only header i have ran on this motor.

you can see how long they are here.

Those look pretty solid, what were the original headers you modified those out of? I might be able to make something like that work. You don't have any problem spraying 5lb/min though, right? BTW, (for the 5.0 cars obviously) are our engine mounts identical to the 86-93 5.0 Mustang mounts? That's one major detail I overlooked in all my planning...

                  No, they are NOT identical.

However, 289/302/351W/351C all can mount in on stock panther mounts.

Fox body 302 mustang. the passenger side did not require any work. the drivers side had to be brought about 3/4-1" closer to the motor and the rear tube has to be modified to not go around the steering shaft.

The exhaust wont be my choke point, it will be the shitty 216*/228* .484/.512 cam that does not produce power above 5000

and like Tom said the mounts are different. i made mine into solids. you just take rubber mounts and weld material in to connect the outer shell with the inner shell

How crazily noisy are those solid motor mounts?

Solid mounts on a body on frame car are not bad. The old chevelle I played with had solid mounts and couldn't tell it had em...

Duce, what brand headers did you modify? As long as I can hopefully duplicate your success, I might as well keep things as similar as possible.
