I've been lucky with the traffic in the last few years. Back in '01 I got stuck in traffic for 1-1/2 hours one night on the GSP. This was after I had the 4-core brass radiator installed. It got up to 215 degrees, but it boiled my trans fluid. Was stuck in 1st all the way home.

Duece: Did your universal radiator come with the transmission line ports? As for the size of the hoses, I'm not to concerned about that.

Yeah, it is much cheaper to get straight anti-freeze and use the water at home; plus you get two bottles of coolant in the end instead of just the one 50/50 mix that you bought for some inflated price (paying extra for water:nonono

no it did not because i bought a racing radiator. im using a 6-pass and an 8-pass tranny cooler instead. and it was just a heads up since most racing rads use a weird outlet you will need a different hose.

i got a 31" by 19" aluminum Griffin radiator in mine.

When I sent a message to Griffin, I received no answer. So, I went to recoring my 552 radiator with an even heavier-duty, American-made core from my local radiator shop.

I forgot to mention that was with my old Malibu. That little 305 used to heat up in the summer and unable to get passed 160* in the winter with the radiator blocked. Probably needed to flush the system at the time. Oh well, next lifetime.

The trans cooler makes sense. I was told that most radiators only pass the trans fluid once through/on/with the radiator, but in traffic all bets were off; which is why it boiled the fluid in the Malibu. I have a DeRale sitting the basement that's dying to get used.

speedway motors no longer lists the rad i bought, but they do have this one for $260. http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Ford-L...ator,3548.html that one is actually the right size, mine is 31" overall, this one and stock are 31" not including tanks.

edit, actually this is the radiator i have, it is no longer sold under the griffin name, but this is the one i have.http://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedw...DisplayId=3548 and its only $140
