if you use the 2000 pitman arm, you need the 2000 center link, idler arm, and tie rods. Or you just use the 87 pitman arm and your stock stuff.

I haven't read up on any of this stuff regarding steering/suspension, but I'm assuming the later P71 box has a faster ratio.

Any benefit to using the later model pitman arm, centerlink, and tie rods?

stiffer torsion bar mostly, but I think the turn ratio may be better as well. Basically its got a lot more road feel vs the stock granny pinky steer box.

No idea about the late stuff. I've yet to have anyone tell me why it changed, but I'd love to know. If its an upgrade, next time I happen to need a front end rebuild, maybe in another 100k miles or so, I'll change it over.

its inside the steering box. Basically its whats responsible for helping roll the wheel back to center, and it provides a lot of the resistance in the steering wheel. Without it, the steering would be so stupidly touchy that it would be almost impossible to actually drive. The stiffer it is, the more effort you need to turn the steering wheel.
