    S.D. + Exp intake

Does any one have any experience with a Speed density H.O. ecm and an Explorer intake?

Do they play well with each other?

    Thanks....

Speaking from my own experience only.
I have a 96 Explorer GT40 engine in my 91CV, everything from intake to oil pan was swapped.
And I am using an H.O. SD computer from a Mark 7, so far, it runs great!!!
    Others have had different results.

Some are hit or miss honestly. Gadget73 has an explorer top end, and ran weird on speed density. As did GMGT's Project 79. Now mine ran weird on speed density because of my dumb ass self having the O2 sensors plugged into oppositie sides.

I had an 88 Cougar years ago that had an HO swapped in when I got it, the head gaskets went and I ended up tossing a set of GT40 irons on it(96 exploder) and matching explorer intake. It made a noticeable power gain, but had the stock fuel pump that ran out of volume around 3500-3800rpm. Before the heads and intake, it was good to about 4500rpm. I don't know the flow rating of the panther pumps, but fox mustangs were 88lph and I imagine the fox Tbird/cougar was less being that they were never equipped with more than a whopping 165ish HP. A MAF swap can be done super cheap though, I don't know how some of these companies are getting away with $500 conversion kits when I did my last one for $120 including ECU.

          Good luck!

My car has ported heads and an Explorer cam though, and P79 had P heads. Both have more airflow than stock heads. I expect that had more to do with it than the intake alone. My Mark VII with stock heads has a SystemMax 1 lower that flows very similar to an Explorer intake, and it runs perfectly with the stock ECM.

Coolness. I am contemplating sticking a spare one on the Megamerc. I am tired tripping over it & of moving it around the garage...
