fuuuuuuuck. Why? What's vastly different? I am not afraid of, and do in fact welcome modification.

          Hmmm...

When did the rear sway bars start to fasten to the frame instead of the control arms?

1992. Its just an endlink like the fronts have, it goes through a hole and has the donuts and all that crap. Don't think that would be a major operation to add, just drill a hole in the right spot and add the brackets to the axle tube. Seen those clamped on with muffler clamps before, though that does look cheesy.

The control arm mounting points are very different on the late model rears. The late model ones have 4 parallell control arms (2 per side) that mount to the outside of the frame, forward of the rear tires. Lateral location is with a bellcrank looking thing on the top of the differential, and a couple of rods that go out to the frame.
            86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).
5.0 HO, CompCams XE258,Scorpion 1.72 roller rockers, 3.55 K code rear, tow package, BHPerformance ported E7 heads, Tmoss Explorer intake, 65mm throttle body, Hedman 1 5/8" headers, 2.5" dual exhaust, ASP underdrive pulley

91 Lincoln Mark VII LSC grandpa spec white and cranberry

1984 Lincoln Continental TurboDiesel - rolls coal

Good reads. Okay, thanks. Sucks, I just found one on Craiglist with a 3.55LSD and all brake hardware for $300.
