    Variable assist power steering question

Did it ever come in a box? I found the solenoid and line setup on a 1990 LTC, and I'm assuming that's the ONLY 5.0 car to have ever gotten it. Or did all SEFI boxes get it, or was it strictly a SEFI box thing? I had forgotten that Lincoln changed the body in 1990, so I had the Ford dealer once look up a 1991 LTC only for it to be a 4.6 car. Just wondering if 1990 LTC was the only animal ever to receive this, as my '92 has the computer to control this solenoid, though I did manage to forget its harness at the JY.

My (formerly) SEFI 1987 Colony Park LS certainly did not come with variable-assist steering. I had assumed it was only on later cars - like, much later. I did notice that for the model years I've looked up, the police models did not get variable assist.

90 towncar is it. Use the pump, pressure regulator assembly, and pressure hose and it will mate up to your 92. You do need the plug to connect it though. I think the pump on Scott's car is actually a 93 Tbird pump which has the variable assist stuff, but I think the pressure spring in the pump is not correct for the panther steering box since the wheel feels a bit funky and it doesn't seem that the variable assist actually does anything.

Is the '90 TC pump special? Or is it the same as any other box pump? I've currently got a box pump on my car w/o the variable assist. I got the solenoid and pressure hose though.
