I was tempted to get a Mustang AOD and put that into the Lincoln to shorten things up.
Going to shorten the driveshaft instead, at least an inch.

Wonder if the Lincoln got a CV/MGM driveshaft at some point in the past. I know my 93 is tight when the axle is at full droop. Comes out easy as when at right height though. It's easier now that I have a solid yoke instead of the harmonic one. I did get my DS balanced at the same time the shop replaced the original yoke that was falling apart. Boxes don't have to worry about that since they didn't have that stupid yoke.

Vic driveshaft ought to be shorter than a Towncar one. 3" longer wheelbase on the Lincoln and the trans is about 1 1/2" longer. The rest of it is in the driveshaft.

In any event, I got the bastard thing out on the ground, not going back in until it's shortened and balanced.
Lots of time for that, it's put to bed for the winter's nap now until at least April. Transmission has to come out and be rebuilt, that's going to take a while.

I always forget that wheelbase part having had a Mark VI that uses the vic/mgm wheelbase.

I bought what is believed to be a LTD or GMQ driveshaft tonight. Appears to be 58.5" from C/L to C/L of U joint cups. The shaft that came out of the Lincoln measures 61" on the same marks. Let's see how this one works out. I'll have the transmission back and in the car around March sometime.
