Ok think home solar panels, Now envision a tiny solar panel on your dashboard with a cable back to the battery to keep the aforementioned trickle charged. So does such a device exist??

Any small 12 volt panel that plugs into an always active power port or lighter socket should be great. I used them for decades just to keep up the charge on my 4 battery boat which was moored so had no dock power.

All depends upon if your electrical system is working correctly or not. If it is (and you don't really need the panel), then they may be fine. If you have any medium or large "draws" then forget it!What I Own: 1993 Mercury Grand Marquis GS

I believe some VWs in the early 2000s came with these as delivered? I remember walking a VW lot in the 2003-2004 time frame (my Mom bought a Beetle then), and seeing these suction cupped on the windshield. Maybe it was just for use while the cars sat on the lot.
