    Door Chime disappered

Hi, the door chime in my '88 Colony Park GS suddenly disappeared, Fine one day, and gone the next. I looked at my car manual and saw that the door chime shares a fuse with courtesy lamps, clock, outside power mirrors. All of these are working fine. So does this mean that the chime itself is broken? And if so where is it located in the dash, so I can replace it ? Thanks

It might be that the door switch failed. Try wiggling the small post to see if it comes back. The chime will also come on if the headlights are on and the key is not. If it makes sound, then the chime itself is fine. If not, I believe its located under the center of the dash, behind the radio. Least thats where it is located in a Lincoln.

Yeah, thanks. You were right. It was the little push switch in the door frame. I jiggled it and it seemed stiff and then the chime came on.

I will look for it but I am not sure I can find it here In Saudi Arabia for a model as old as
my '88. Maybe I can remove it and use some contact cleaning spray and see if that works.

As a last ditch, you could always send someone in the US some money and have them mail you one. That's what a guy in Australia here does when he needs something desperately that he can't find down under.

EDIT: Speaking of which, is there any way to get a custom door chime somehow? I seem to remember seeing some girl's Town Car a while back on CarDomain that had a cat meowing as a door chime. That would irritate me, but it's an interesting idea nonetheless.
