Great! It's obviously done but for future reference they make an "Amp Bypass Cable" that connects the two harnesses that plug into the amp together taking it out of the system.

If you don't bypass the amp or use the amp integration cable an aftermarket head unit will eventually toast the input end of the amp. The sound also can be distorted.

The factory amp does not tend to play nicely with aftermarket stereos. There are ways to make it play, but the ones used in most things that aren't Lincolns are almost impossible to integrate properly, and its sometimes not possible to bypass them with a harness either depending on the particular sound system and it's grounding scheme.

i was an audio tech for about 12 years back in day and i know what a P.I.T.A. it is to try to integrate these things that is why i just decided to bypass it my way and i know it will work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well, also theres the fact that most modern stereos have more output power than the stock amp does anyhow. The ones with low level inputs like the JBL amps used in Lincolns can worth using if tied in properly, but most of the rest are simply not.

the pioneer DEH P6300UB i installed in my brothers lincoln together with the metra amp intergration harness, sounds great. the factory amp seem to put enough power out, to make the music clear and crisp. its no modern 4-channel amp but, it does the trick.

One good thing about a tin ear... cheap factory radio's sound just fine to my ears. (The Irony? I work on sound systems at work) =-)
