Cleaning up corrosion on HPP wheels?

I have a set of HPP wheels that have what I'm assuming is corrosion. It actually looks like drops and dribbles of white glue that has dried on the wheel, but I'm assuming that it's actually corrosion that's under the silver paint that has, for some reason, turned white.

Is there any way to clean this up, or do you need to get the wheels professionally refinished? Thanks for any advice.

You can wet sand and then use an aluminium polish to shine them. People do it all the time and if you use the right materials you'll get a good result. It takes a lot of elbow grease but do-able. I've done a couple of my own rims - I had nothing to lose as they were totally beat to shit - and the result is quite nice.

A user over on CrownVic.net did his HPPs and they came out great. A few of the pictures in the thread have gone walkabout but most of them are still loading up. Take a look: http://www.crownvic.net/ubbthreads/u...2313057&page=1
