1982 Ford LTD-S 351W Police Car

    Trees FTW! I was considering a darker color for the valve covers...as i believe that is the original color based on the chips of paint left on the intake manifold. We shall see!.

    I went with the chromies...will keep them WELL polished, as in, every time i wash or wax the car.

          Just curious, did your headers have weird sharp edges on the tubes, like a bender grabbed them wrong? Mine were chrome and were like that in a few places.

              Sure! I probably already have one posted somewhere, but as they're not currently installed on anything, I can easily take another, better one.

                    Your coil and bracket were originally black? Odd. Most of those I've seen were dark blue.

                      There were a few spots of paint left on the bottom of the coil, and it was gloss black. the bracket IDK, no paint left on that.

                        Just out of curiosity what kind of number am i looking at in terms of performance gains from this exhaust setup? I have VV carb, D8OE heads, stock 82 351 cam. I know some people on here have some sort of awesome calculator they can use for this sort of thing.

                          If the engine's still 100% stock, I doubt you should expect any huge gains. Still, logic dictates that any reduction in restriction is a good thing.

                          Desktop Dyno is a fun toy, but the descriptions for some of its options (expecially exhaust options) are extremely vague, and there's a lot of doubt as to its usefulness for predicting real-world power numbers anyway.

                            I'd guesstimate 5-10 hp over stock dual exhaust but probably not much more.

                              My engine analyser setup claimed i'd see 15ish over stock duals. That's assuming good tuning and unrestrictive cats

                                Interesting that's around where i was thinking. I'm having a devil of a time finding exact HP and torque numbers for my year. some sources state 140/265 other 165/285. I'm not sure what to believe. the one source says these power figures are taken with all the accessories on and behind the transmission. Anyone have a reliable source for the real power output??
