Nice!!! Funny how a dual exhaust and a rear diff girdle or a decent cover will change the persona of a car. My mom gets questioned about the CV nowadays because of that. LOL

I bet! Makes people wonder what's under the hood as well...Only downside about this one is I'll have to polish it once and a while if i want to keep it shiny. Anyone who wants to donate a nice aftermarket cover to me is more than welcome!

Plan is to remove the old rear tomorrow, and get the new one in place within a week or so (schedule allowing).

Had some time so i removed the rear sway bar, wired wheeled and rust converted it, will begin painting tomorrow. Also painted the diff bolts and spring insulator retainers.

The magical car snowflakes? Those go in the coil spring mounts/perches on the rear, they are for air springs, I made the mistake of painting them, oh well!!

Today was rather successful I'd day:

Only had one stubborn bolt get stuck, the new electric impact worked wonders on the rest, so glad to have it!

So some interesting news! I did not need the conversion U-Joint, in fact, it wasn't even close to fitting! (5-134X). I was able to re-use my stock size U-Joint for the slip-yoke. (I recently replaced them anyway).

I have a theory as to why. When I replaced my original u-joints I selected ones specifically for a police model, which were a different (beefier) size than the civilians. I assume later this was used as a stock size u-joint, or a the very least continued to be the police spec u-joint as the DS is from a police car. That is why those with civi-cars have had to use conversion u-joints.

Thanks! Yeah it is significantly larger than an air impact, which can make it tough to use in tight spots, however it was able to rip the nuts right off the control arm bolts. We had to use a breaker bar and a pipe in the junkyard for them, so i was rather impressed.

The tow package cars got bigger U joints too. Probably the same ones the cop cars got. They are definitely bigger than the standard civi parts, though I had no idea it was the same as the aluminum shafts used.

New rear and driveshaft are in! Drum brakes had no problem mounting to the newer rear, other than one hole that needed to be drilled and tapped for the splitter on top of the rear.

Way better from a stop, and accelerating upon cruising too! I had been unable to do a burnout, ever, up until this point. However tonight I experienced my first glorious 2 wheel peel at a stoplight. Was not expecting it to work to be honest, but it did it fairly effortlessly! More pictures tomorrow!
