      Painted Fender Supports

Painted up my fender supports yesterday as I had some free time to do so. I sanded them down, primed with engine primer and painted with aluminum engine paint and cleared with engine clear. They came out nice. I also did the hardware with rusty metal primer, engine low gloss black and engine clear. I will install these after I receive a transmission cooler and install that along with my power steering cooler as I have to remove the air box to do so and the braces prevent me from doing so. While the air box is out I will also paint the hardware that secures the box to the inner fender with aluminum engine paint.

      The whole deal

      Hardware

      Braces

      Just kiddin'

      Fender braces

Again lol at the tags. I love em!

          Power Steering Cooler Install

My dad installed the cooler for me today. It went together no problem, the hard part was removing the rusty old lines form the steering box. Just had to twist the lines apart and wreck everything to get the steering lines out. But aside from that the cooler that wagonman sent me fit right into place. The paint held nice even on the nut parts where the wrenches turn, so all is well. Oh and NO leaks!

The lines at the steering box. The clip couldnt fit because of the aftermarket high pressure hose. The two lines weren't lining up so the clip would never seat properly. They are not going anywhere though.

The connections just inside the radiator core support.

And the cooler mounted in place

And a peak through the grille. I will have to give that grille a cheapie spray job one of these days.

          Next up is exhaust!...I hope.

            Air Box Bolts Painted

Painted the air box bolts today. Scuffed them up, primed, painted and cleared. Probably install them once I install the transmission cooler...then I can also install the fender supports. Tons of stuff to install....it never ends.

            The products

            Primed

            Painted

            And cleared

And a shot of the braces waiting

              Paint Day

Tomorrow is the day I have been waiting for since I owned this car...it will finally be painted. I am skipping school (I suck for doing so) and will be removing all trim tomorrow in the am and then driving to the body shop at 10:00 where the car will receive a once over by the paint shop..then it will be masked off and hopefully be wearing a shiny new coat of BMW Hot Chocolate Metallic paint. I am very excited and scared at the same time. Over two years of work went into this...and am just dying for it to be over. Car will be back with me Friday at some time. Wish me and the Blob luck.

That'll be like the 4th time that passenger door has been painted within 3 years. :p About time though. I shouldn't talk, but I am. Can't wait to see pics of the beautiful finished product. Good luck mang!!

You know you gotta take a "before" picture when you're leaving for the paint shop.
