Don't you love those weird cranky-knob vent windows? I think they're nifty but annoying to operate - it's crossed my mind to see whether they can be swapped for the sort with just the lever latch.

I will, eventually. Right now I'll run her with no plate, but when we get our "4TH MIX" vanity plate (a nod to the glory days of DDR <3) I'll definitely want to show 'em BOTH off. Wouldja mind helping a brother out? XD

Just bought some Thermosteel on my break. Like Mighty Putty but deteriorates at 2400*. We'll see how it works.

Next time I'm at the yard I'll pull one off for you. I hope the little insert in the bumper is still intact with the threads...

If you manage to see a dome light cover, try to nab one as well. This car's missing one.

Matt - how do you have the gauges hooked up, anyway? I'm probably going to be replacing those with something less distracting. Also, it looks like the battery on this car is going south. :| Gonna take it to the tester at work tomorrow, but my expectations are low.

Strange idle. Also, I might be second guessing the battery 'cause the terminal caps are FUCKING SHOT. It might just be a really shitty connection to ground or positive. The wires were a tiny bit hot.

Charging the battery overnight, then I'll load test it at work. I'm DEFINITELY buying new terminal caps (ends? The part that hooks the battery up from the wire) while I'm at work tomorrow. Current ones are aaaallll kinds of eww.

Old cars ALWAYS need "help" but I said, based on the pre-sale photos, it was a POS but was scoffed at. As my late Uncle Mike used to say, "I can fix a lot of things but can't make gold out of shit"! My guess is as you continue digging you'll find many more goodies!!

Honestly, if I where you I'd concentrate on getting that rotted out frame section fixed, before I started worrying about fixing all the hackage that was done to that poor car. You could put in alot of work on the car, only for the frame to snap in half the first time you hit a pothole.

Well up here in the NE, we've got this thing called rust. It makes finding any GM that isn't COMPLETELY rotted to hell and back a real rarity - much less a Coupe!

So I charged the battery overnight and hooked it up to my tester at work. 635 CCA. The battery's fine. I even ran the toaster on it; no problems. So like I said, the terminal ends were fucking shot. I bought a pair of new lead terminal ends and a thing of protector spray. I'll hook that shit up.

Sorry if you took it as offensive - not meant that way. I came form the NE so I know the "drill". Just that to me it was nothing more than a parts car and there were better ones to be found either here or say Arizona/Ca. Even factoring in the expense of getting them would have yielded better results....just saying....Bobby

You mean like my '86 after I Adam Ferrara'd it over a hump in the road?

Yeah, frame repair will definitely be a spring priority. I'm putting any and ALL 'non-repair' modifications on hold until the frame's fixed up.

Hey - anybody know a good body/frame specialist in NJ?

Bob: No sweat. I get the gist, but this car did have sentimental value to me. I watched her evolve on Youtube for roughly 2 years (mostly not knowing the bad ) and really wanted to NOT see her go to waste. So to me, this project is worth it. That's my prerogative.

thats the high idle cam doing its job. when the cars engine is cold press the gas pedal down fully to set the choke then fire her up it will go into high idle mode once the car reaches normal operating temperature flick the gas pedal and it will release the choke and drop to curb idle. thats normal it's how cfi works.

Cool, MD! I see your point! There may be a "choke pull off switch" (really a diaphram) that needs to be replaced to solve that issue. Let us know and best of luck restoring "her"!

Mods, can somebody please correct the thread title to 83 instead of '82 so the poor folks don't keep thinking I'm carburated?
