    Computer stand....

Had a friend of mine give me two computer stand bases the other day... Got one of them ready to go to the welding shop, to make the top post mount for the pan and tilt... (I already had that part) I had used a home made bottom mount before, but it looked like crap... it was sturdy, but looked home made... So now I will have a true commercially built stand. I will "powder coat" it with bedliner spray... that stufff is awsome. I painted my center console and the homemade computer stand with it, it still looks new. Pictures when it gets installed in the car, probably around Thursday.
I am also going to test fit the cage I got, so it will be ready to go in the car when we get ready to leave for Chicago this year... For the car show. I got it a few months ago for $100.00 including an electric shotgun rack, and the cage and rack look like brand new! The shotgun rack alone is about $285.00 new, the cages go for around $399.00 to $450.00 new... We got one for Jason's car, too... (Watchdog) So we got BOTH for less than the cost of ONE rack or cage new!

OK, just so you won't still be sitting there over the weekend... here are some shots.. not done, but the start. The welding shop has the "pole" and the swivel head, and will be welding it tommorow or Saturday morning...

The base installed... had a bitch of a time lining up the base of the computer stand, the console mount, and the seat track... Finnally got "Watchdog" over to help while I pushed on the side of the console, he finnally got the bolt started...

This is what needs welding... They are taking the plate off the end of this, (This is the old mount I had made) and welding it on the new "pole". They are also going to go with some thicker box tubing, to make it more sturdy, so it won't shake... The new pole is going to be shorter than the one in the picture, so the computer won't stick up above the dash, when it is open. The computer plate the computer mounts on will be about level with the top of the console...

The top plate that the computer sits on is in the back ground... the swivel is on the back side in the picture... sorry had to take these quick as lightning was popping all over... it was about to storm. I'll get some better pictures of the rest of it tommorow hopefully when I get home... The computer mount has a "arm" that attaches to the computer screen to keep it from shaking, and causing the hinges on the screen to loosen up. It also has a red / white map light attached to it to light up the computer keyboard...
