As an FYI, the Hitachi IAC is supposed to be the one Ford uses and therefore the preferred one. I would have mentioned that earlier if I had figured...

The Motorcraft one is right. IIRC, it comes with the "F" part separately and you only put it on if you need it. Ours have the rubber hose that goes...

That's the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve. They're fairly cheap and easy to replace. I guess it's telling you it's time. I would...

The actual coil is inside the plastic case. The idea is similar to a transformer with a whole bunch of wire wound around stuff. The spring thing...

I wasn't sure initially if you were talking about spark plug wires (on an aero) or COPs, but since it's COPs, the boots are the rubber part, and...

I agree with keeping them off. For me, it was a matter of inconvenience initially. Then awhile ago I learned that they might actually act as a heat...

About IPreferDIY
Biography:
I don't have any formal mechanical training or expertise (I have a psychology degree of all things) but I prefer to fix my cars myself so I know exactly what was done. I also give my cars the kind of TLC that one would not get from a typical mechanic. In my experience, the consumer-level repair manuals and internet sources are typically incomplete, so I'm hoping to gain and provide some insights that are generally not available elsewhere.
