    1980 Continental Town Coupé

So I finally found my unicorn, the 2 door version of my '84 Cobra TC

Saw a CL ad posted to the town car and mark vi owners group on Facebook. Guy came upon hard times and needed the cash more than the car. Claims to have 68k original miles. Made a call, talked to the guy and, from from our conversations he saw his project car was going to a good home so we made a deal. He turned down at least a dozen other offers until I could pick it up.

Only catch was, I had to drive to Indianapolis to get it. It gave me a reason to finish the LED light upgrade on my hauler and put some new tires on it. Left Thursday @3pm, picked it up about 3ish the next day, and pulled up to my house the following evening around 8pm. Backed it off the trailer ams up to my shop where it got its first wash in months. These photos are just as I got it; other than the wash, haven't fixed or cleaned anything else.

Took it home for the princely sum of $1200 (+ gas). Truck averaged 16.5mpg unloaded @ 70 and 14.5mpg loaded @ 64mph. ~860mi one way from my house.

A few more. Some non-standard carb on here. I think its some Holley 2300 variant from what I've been able to find

And the coupe de grass - a full set of 14" wire wheels and tires included

His project was to make it a lowrider, but he didnt get into any serious mods yet. I'll be going a bit of a different direction, a much faster one

I have a MINT set of headlights and tail lights I pulled from an 84 TC - any interest in them?

That is definitely a car worth saving - nice find!

Are you talking headlight bezels, signal lenses, or the actual headlights? Between this car and the 84, I've got a good set of rear signals and chrome surrounds, its the front that needs help, don't know what it is about the clears. Send me photos of what you've got and I'll definitely take a look

Good find. That interior color is almost orange! Don't touch those cruise control buttons or you'll be sorry. They tend to explode and send plastic bits flying and you'll never find another set in that color.

                351 or 302?

I believe the dealer brochures called the top and interior colors "caramel". The paint code is Chamois Metallic. 351w

Finally someone has seats as bad as my originals were. Yikes. Glovebox actually looks good, hopefully the tape will come off clean. Latch busted I guess?

Looks pretty good though. Driveline swap from the 84 ?

Yeah, glovebox is great, just needs a latch. Also needs door locks since apparently he doesn't have working door keys. I was debating on just doing a full lock replacement with the ones from my 84 since I have a matching set with original Lincoln keys.

Full everything swap from my 84. The coupe has brake issues, so gonna start with the rear disc/k-code swap, and do speedway springs/shocks while I'm at it, then the same for the front end

I hate mismatched key sets. Mine came from a junkyard donor so all of them were how they should be. I have a pair of original Lincoln keys, and there was a spare set with it.

You saved that car. I also approve greatly of the back seat. Look how comfy it looks. Armrests and all for everyone!

The awesome woodgrain inlay on the aluminum front seat side panels is a really nice touch as well..just like the color match glovebox latch cover.

Yea those seats look great. I don't know if a seat restoration is in store but they sure would look welcoming if they were back in shape.
