How does it run when not trying to idle?
Wound up ordering a set of the Stabilus as it was the cheapest, of Stabilus, Strong Arm & Tuff Support with shipping to me on Rock Auto which seems to have very good prices on these items.
Also It...
The quadrajet will do it also. More common with manual fuel pumps to have a gasket failure and fill the crankcase right up.
Bad carbs can run a lot of raw fuel into the engine diluting the oil. If you still have a sense of smell pull the stick and smell the oil, you might be able to smell gas.
The hood struts on the 03 must go to their final resting place.
I know there have been several mentions of replacement struts but I think they were kind of scattered in miscellaneous threads.

And vacuum need to be strong enough
Yes all lines need to be checked. And the check valve and can.
Lisle 75000 pump is good quality made in Brazil now. Sadly the mityvac has been made in China for quite some time.
Just to add to the above I used epoxy to fix the rusty can. Also one thing that fooled me was the vacuum line to the can was collapsed so it checked out no leaks but would not transmit vacuum.
Yes Lisle quality. Some years ago, before I swore off Harbor Freight I bought their scope. The first time i used it one of the ear pieces came off and was lost then I cut the inside of my ear as...
And when aligning wires don't forget the required crossovers to minimize misfires.

And the neighbors think I'm nuts when I give the backs a quick hit with Ajax and a scrub brush.
What I really like under the hood is that it all would pass for stock to someone not familiar with these cars aside from the plate on the intake, the valve cover script and the radiator cap!
On much older cars the cruise symptoms you experience were all due to vacuum problems
Most likely tank cap or the overflow hose leaks air or the overflow tank itself has a crack. cracked tank took me some time to find a long time ago.
You don't happen to have or be able to borrow,...
no you most likely need a 1/4" beam torque wrench and 2 square drive adapters. 1/2male to 3/8 female and 3/8male to x1/4female

Perhaps the service manual will give a procedure for just replacing the flange. It may be remove wheels, brakes and rotors, measure and record the rotational force, replace flange and tighten...
The thing I am thinking is that the in lb. spec is that the axles and carrier may have to be out to get the correct torque reading. That I can't remember offhand.
You need a flange tool to keep pinion from spinning while you are tightening the nut. Though since you are not disassembling the pumpkin Perhaps the Ebrake might do the trick. Never tried that. ...
I am confused, why do you need p71 axles? I thought everything, but the rare limo HD axles, were the same except for the #of splines 28 changing to 31 in 05 or maybe mid 04. Maybe you have some...
Smart approach
Going to soak and heat?
