Nice Merc! It doesn't have to say "Grand" in front of the Marquis to belong here. I would have a hard time leaving that 429 alone LOL
If your tank is the same shape as the boxes up to '87; and the sending unit and pump/pickup are in the same locations; you could reference the Fuel Pump Upgrade Sticky in this section. It may be...
Also depends on the wheels. My 245 45R17 tires on the American Racing slot wheels (4.5" backspacing) had no problems up front. The 17" x 7" P71 wheels with 235 50R17 (I think that was the OEM size)...
Hmmm...….yes; forgot about that. Though, now that you mention it, my Mom's '05 Explorer has the seat controls on the seat; like the box Panthers do. I will get a good look at them over the weekend...
My '05 MGM has the lumbar support. Not too concerned unless all of the Whales in the junkyard have them too. If it's a mounting problem, I think I can work passed that. I've done it before with...
I have been giving some serious thought on swapping out the bench seat for buckets. Thinking of finding Whale seats as there are far more of them in the junkyard than aeros and less-so boxes. I...
I changed mine only after procrastinating after getting all of the parts. Then the 2G died and had no choice. Such an easy swap; so much so that I did it to my Ranger a month afterwards.
Good to know what to expect; I just want something that's not annoying; even if it's just a weekend cruiser.
How does one lube the cable? I'm very close to reinstalling my VSS and have the cable disconnected at the AOD end. Mine was squeaking up a storm last time I drove the CV.
I usually stick with Motorcraft; or whatever came off the stock engine. Unless it's the '86 CV; and if the OEM Motorcraft parts are no longer available.
I will do that; in fact, I might do that for my Explorer as well. Thanks for the tip IPreferDIY :)
Since I swapped the plugs and coils, the MGM runs smoother (understandably) and quieter; especially on the highway. Can't figure that out, but don't care either. Before I put it all back together,...
I would find out after yanking the lopo years later, that the idler arm was rattling around. That might have been the problem. I'll find out if anything changed when I get the car running again.
I'll take a look at the lopo upper plenum when I get home. I remember there being rubber/foam bits stuck to the side of the plenum. I never gave it a thought as to what that was. I'll dig it out...
The main reason for my Speedway spring swap was for the same reasons you did; holding a straight line on the highway. I miss the riding on a cloud-couch ride; but having that car drift all over the...
I used Bilstein Rear Shocks 24-014960 and...……..
used Bilstein front shocks 24-014953
I did the spring swap a few years prior to rebuilding the front end; and had Monroe Sensitracs. When I went...
Removing the bolts was easy; it was putting them back in that became a problem. I used a short handle box wrench and still managed to strip the threads. Since that brae is not absolutely vital, I...
Probably need to retrofit the plastic visors; as they typically drop down further than the metal visors.
I don't remember if my CV has them or not. The car has been tarp'd for over 3 years. :-/
Coyotes seem to be the popular choice nowadays. I don't see too many 6.2L Raptor swaps. I have no clue what transmissions are in those things; and even less on how to get an engine like that...
Another related question (sorry); how important is that brace that bolts to the rear engine mount to the AOD bellhousing? I went to install the brace yesterday and stripped the threads on the AOD...
I used a 7/8" line wrench; and a good bit of Kroil for the CV O2 sensors.
My aunt's '05 Elantra on the other hand; broke the same line wrench years later. Ended up replacing both the mid pipe...
Jim Woods @ FordStrokers.com does custom grinds
Ed Curtis @ FTI cams is said to grind good cams
Those are the 2 custom cam grinders I looked into when I was considering a cam.
In any event;...
Thanks SLY. My Dad suggested I use the dying electric impact I have. It is quite weak, but is good for these jobs. I used that and had no problems getting them released. I used Never-Sieze on the...
I replaced the coils and plugs. 3 of the 4 drivers side plugs had liquid; the front plug was dry. All passenger side plugs were dry. I noticed a little/tiny bubbling action at the rear of the...
