Forgot to mention, I’m pretty sure (not definitely) that it’s the 60 amp version.
Remanufactured Motorcraft alternator. I had this in my truck for about 1,000 miles before I did the 3G upgrade.
Comes with an old-school GP Sorensen external regulator that worked flawlessly when...
What kind of noise does a dead injector make? None?
My Dad’s 2000 CVPI had a similar issue. I just used a long 3/8” extension as a stethoscope.
I use white lithium grease in the spray can whenever I replace window motor bushings.
I bought an upper ball joint once that was missing the dust boot entirely. It’s a gamble, but a sensible one.
Is the vacuum routing sticker on the radiator fan shroud gone?
Ford usually color coded the hard plastic vacuum lines.
Green = EGR
Red = FPR and emissions solenoids
Black = emissions...
I had to do the same thing on my 1990. Bushing was long gone and I couldn't find a replacement. I ended up installing a Dorman repro.
Excellent job! That car looks pretty immaculate to me.
Thanks for posting the progress on this. I enjoy your thoroughness.
Also, don’t forget that you’ll need to use the Mustang fan and clutch if you’re sticking with the mechanical setup. The reverse flow will spin in the opposite direction, so the blade pitch will be...
Purchasing the Mustang-specific water pump will be all you'd need since they use the same timing cover as a panther. I would still go the extra step of maybe throwing in a new timing chain set since...
That makes me think of how the Mercury Capri was the Ford Capri in Europe. That version never shared the Fox platform, however.
You can use the supplied spring with 28-spline axles. It's just a bit more difficult to install. When I installed that kit in my Mustang, I ended up clamping one end with some vise grips to get it...
It should be mandated that an asking price of over $10k for a classic car requires that the seller include at least ten high-resolution pictures in the ad.
That's a great deal. Car looks well cared for and rust free.
This is the kit I bought. However, it didn’t come with the adapters pictured. It’s just a simple 3/8 to 1/8 NPT adapter. If I ever have to remove it, I won’t try to save it. Trust me. It’s tight.
Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm satisfied enough to just let it ride as is.
Not possible to do due to the tapered NPT threads.
That's your problem. The GT40P heads have a different spark plug angle. There are some pictures of these heads in the Exhaust Options thread with 1990 Lincoln Town Car exhaust manifolds mocked up....
Nope. I have a thread sealer I can use. Thanks for the input!
I’m installing Stewart Warner gauges on my truck and went with their temp sender. The instructions make it seem like it should thread in almost all the way with just a bit sticking out. Mine seems...
What heads are you using? That makes more of a difference in the type of plugs you need. The block doesn't really have anything to do with it.
1994-1995 5.0 and 1994-2000 3.8 Mustangs would have a suitable alternator. 2001-2004 V6 Mustangs used an upgraded 6G rated for 110 amps with an even smaller case than the 3G.
Agreed with everyone...
Good work! I like these kinds of fixes. I would assume that the coast button simply gets used the least.
