Does anyone know the profile for the 302 HO cam or for the police 351W cam? The info isn't in the shop manual, but I thought maybe someone here would know.
Thanks,
Nathan

NOTE THAT THESE NUMBERS ARE AT 0.006" LIFT, NOT 0.050" LIFT AS IS USED BY MOST CAM VENDORS (the point is - you can't easily compare the stock duration with cam vendor info).
From another site:
Ford doesn't list .050" timing events, so duration numbers aren't available, but they vary all over the place based on folks' measurements out there. Generally, they are around 210 or 212 on intake and exhaust. But I've seen numbers like 219/212 on the early cams.
And from Edelbrock (for another cam) - just to get an idea what the difference is between 0.006 and 0.050 measurements:
Duration at .006 Lift: Intake 270° Exhaust 280°
Duration at .050 Lift: Intake 204° Exhaust 214°
P.S. I've noticed that the attached pic looks best if you open it and either: print it off, or open with a program that let's you look at it larger. The info is there and is readable.
HO with Explorer Cam, Electric Fan, Cop Sway Bars, Dual exhaust with no mufflers, 15x7" American Racing; 215/70R15's front, 255/60R15's rear, 3.55's with Trak-Lok.
There are people running HO cams putting down ~700hp....It's not that bad. My 87 sedan was running a stock HO cam, and it's still one of the fastest vics around.
Okay, here we go:
For the 351W:
Int. Lift - .416
Ext. Lift - .416
Int. Duration - 260
Exhaust Duration - 260
114 Lobe Centerline
So this would be the police cam profile, then?

I am thinking so, but when I get back in my garage next week, I'll check to be sure. I had some numbers for the 5.0 handy from an older MOTOR repair manual and the numbers in there checked with the numbers given. But I'll have to look up the 5.8 numbers next week.

Cool. Thanks Tiggie. If this thread has dropped back to the second page by next week you can just PM me the info.

My recommendation to your is to that junk '89 cam outta there! If you had the other one, it looks pretty decent.
I also dug out an 1986 SVO Motorsport Catalog, but none of the lift numbers above matched any of the cams they had listed so I can't provide duration numbers. Looking at some of the parts they had for sale, I wish I could go back in time and get them... Want a 140 MPH Speedo for your '85 Turbo Coupe... they got 'em. How about a 9in Rear to drop into your Fox 'Stang? They got 'em. How about a 3.73 Traction-Lok 8.8 to put in your '80 Fairmont... they got 'em.

Thanks a lot, Tiggie! You may very well be right about that. I'll have to see if I can find the other cam, or I may just end up getting an aftermarket cam.
