What speed do you cruise at? I did 55 in my first '88 with true duals & glasspacks no crossover, way back, with 4 12" subs & 1000w amp in the trunk & made it to mom's then grandma's in WV, then mom's then back to hometown in NE Ohio on one tank, 420 miles showing 28.5 mpg avg when calculated on the fillup.

It depends. I try to keep it between 58-66 mph.
I did 478 miles when I went 28.5mpg, but that was at 70mph.
I still haven't had a good road trip to get stellar numbers. The last two trips I took, something came up and I had to boogie home. On the last trip, I was averaging around 30mpg for the first quarter tank or so.

Ok, so I almost blewed up the Tank last night. So, it was chugging a bit, and then started misfiring like crazy and I smelled gasoline.
I got home and left it running to investigate. Under the hood, #2 fuel injector was leaking externally all over the place. The leakededed gasoline was smoking from the heat of the engine.
Also, the misfire must have been crazy, because the #2 spark plug wire boot became dislodged from it's position. And gasoline was going into the spark plug of #2.
            Luck.
            Super luck.
            And I broke 219k.

Replaced the passenger side injector o-rings. Well, what do ya know, the #2 injector had a tear in the o-ring.
                    Also, I installed this:

The Tank hasn't moved since the O-rings were replaced. No money to get parts. It's still not running right. I might consider swapping out the coil packs shortly and throwing new plugs in it.
                        But it is stationary.

Gotta fixed the gas line to the garage. No heat from the furnace. I think I'm gonna punch the cats out first and go from there.
It idles great. Everything else sucks. It stumbles and misfires like a boss. I found a vacuum leak, fixed that, and still, no great success.

                            FIXED!!!!
I changed out the plugs. Still crap.
Used the some multimeter action on the coil packs primary and secondaries: Check good.
Signal to the coils from EDIS: Check good.
                            Voltage at EDIS: Check good.
Crank sensor resistance at EDIS: Check good.
Saw signal wire resistance: Check good.

It can't be the plug wires.
They only have 4,000 miles on them and they're MSD.
                            No way.

                            Not possible.

But then, this is the Tank.
                            Anything is possible.

                            Let me check:

                            !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
                            Look at that!!!
The #2 spark plug wire boot came apart. After further inspection of the boot, that metal piece had broken and was arcing in the boot and causing the misfire.

Fortunately, I kept my old set of 115k mile FRPP 9mm wires around for troubleshooting.
Suffice to say, a 4k mile set of wires was just replaced with a set of 115k mile set.
And I am buying a new set of wires when I get back from durka-durka.

                            GO TANK!

                                Tank passed NYS inspection yesterday!
Here's to another year of Tank!
Looking at 1,100 mile road trip next week. I honestly, would love to do it in only tanks of fuel. It is completely possible. I'll have the spare can of gas in the trunk, so I will be playing that game.
And I will let you all know how it goes. My current record is 518 miles on one tank of gas. I want to beat that really, really, really, really bad.
