Yeah, it's on its way out. Signed over the title last night, and it's going byebye as soon as I give the word. It's amazing how much money I'd spent on stuff that was never intended to stay with the car! I'll have to grab some pictures tonight after I put up my new shelving unit.

Power windows are a nightmare waiting to happen, and totally unnecessary in a two-door car. Power seats, maybe. Power locks, also a waste of time in a two-door car. Just throw in the power plant, get a better door panel, and drive that sucker. From the pics, it looks relatively presentable. May look dang good, can't tell. I'm so looking forward to your progress on this car Mike, congrats!!!
Thanks! The thing really is quite solid, to the point that it might actually be worth my while to buff out the paint and wax it. The red pinstripe is badly faded, but that's the biggest whine about the exterior.

I was just thinking about what I could do to cover up the rips in the doorpanels without really costing any money (the p/s looks similar) ... not coming up with any bright ideas yet, but you never know.

Find some good porno red cloth and wrap those things. It should be against the law for one's elbows and forearms to ever touch cold, hard plastic/vinyl.

hehe - kind of have to have regular access to the car to get good pics of it..... should probably do something about the Burning Country Squire in the sig, though.

Edit: Will this change do for now? :p

I could always trade you my glass and everything (they don't have vent windows) if you are serious about going to power. I want crank windows!!

The main break point in AOD design is the 1989 model year, where the 3-4 accumulator was moved to the valve body. You can actually put a 1989-up valve body on a 1988-down AOD case, but not vice versa.
However, the earlier AOD's also used some sort of weird rear-lube system that seems to be responsible for various failures(I can't remember what they are, lol, I only mess with the later trannies), and was phased out around the 1986-87 model year.

Concerning the door panel....It's not too terribly difficult to redo the door panels, I have designed and built several custom sets for customer vehicles when I worked at an upholstery shop many moons ago. I think I even have an idea for covering up the damage on that door, and retaining most of the original door panel.

                      Nice project, by the way.

This may not be the place for this, but do you know why Tom wants crank windows Mike?

And no, I couldn't pay for that motor even though it'd be fun, I was just kinda asking what you had planned on doing with it and suggested things that I thought would be fun to do with it.

Wow you're really desperate for crank windows aren't you? If I ever get a hold of a set, I know who will buy them
