so they were aftermarket??
no signs of any upper rubbing here and Im starting to like the 50 profile - if the front drops with the performance springs, it will be just right...Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

No, the wheels weren't aftermarket, they just looked like those AR wheels.
I'd take pics of them, but my brother just sold them to a friend of his... they were picked up today.**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser

I think I know what ones you mean... Id bet the tires were too wide for the wheel... all the 80's & 90's Ranger wheels are supposed to be the same offset afaik...Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

Pete, you know the wheels on your BII?
Remove the center caps and trim rings, and paint them gloss black. Those are the wheels I had on there. The tires were a little wide, I still have the shredded remains of one, I think.**2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302: 5.0/ 6 spd/ 3.73s, 20K Cruiser

I looked a little closer today - looks like theres about 1/2 inch clearance from the rim to the end of the upper controll arm... I dont remember observing this distance with the 16"s or the turbines... if the offset is the same, this means the 6.5" wide stock wheels' rims would sit closer to an inch away from the end of the upper arm - does this sound right?
Ive done full cut turns a few times already and didnt see any signs of anything rubbing while underneath it today.
I was trying to eyeball my toe-in... the very slight pull the 85 has became a little more evident with the much wider tires...
Well now the pull is still there AND the steering wheel is a tad off... lol. I'll be getting it lined up before the good tires go on...Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

I looked at the clearance on the '91 with the turbines thats still pretty close clearance between the tire and controll arm, even with stock wheels and tires!!!!
Its got 225/70 on the front now... the 235's had to have been pushing it... I cant imagine anything wider being anything but uncomfortably close without a wheel with more offset...
With the 17"s it looks like the rim of the wheel clears the end of the arm in vertical relation to each other, so any possibly excessive width of tire will be just above that sharp edge of the A arm.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements

Cool, I never looked to see how close it was with stock wheels, I just knew that Fox and Jeep wheels have a different enough offset to make the tire rub the control arm. Didn't know what the Mopar steels used for offset. As long as you got a good 3/8 or better in there you're probably OK.86 Lincoln Town Car (Galactica).

Yeah that sounds about right, maybe a little more... just enough room to fit a meduim sized finger between the two. Maybe 2 fingers with the stock wheels, but on 15"s the tire is right next to that sharp end of the A-arm, so sidewall bulge will be an issue there as well.Pete ::::>>> resident LED addict and CFI defector LED bulb replacements
