big question now is the gear ratio you have? if you wanna know that answer, look on your door sticker for the AX and it will have a letter or number. look up Good Samaritans screen name and he has a listing for the different axle code ratios

basicly iam taking out the the old gears what ever ratio they might be and replacing them with 3.55 trac locs out of a mustang . will that work ?

this is probably a stupid question , but iam kinda confused about axles . when i convert the rear axle to trac lok , i replace the stock diff with the trac lok diff after ive put the 3.55 ring and pinion gears in the trac lok ? is that right ?

You replace the carrier in the middle, not the entire differential assembly. The axle shafts slide out, the carrier unbolts, and you remove it and the pinion gear. New parts go back in, and the 3.55 ring goes in bolted to a traction lock carrier instead of the open carrier. Of course the specific details are somewhat more involved, but the actual differential housing and all that can stay in the car. I would suggest replacing all the bearings in it while you've got it apart, and making sure the axle shafts are in good condition.

would the ring and pinion in the 8.8 be standard or reverse rotation and what does that mean ?
