Started working on the 79 bumper...whose origins can be found here:http://www.grandmarq.net/vb/showthre...is-a-79-Bumper

Cleaned her off at work once the delivery was made then once I got her home I really got down to business with the clay bar and the chrome polish.

Had minor pitting in a couple of spots and some scratches from being tossed around since 1979. Pitting was taken care of with the metal polish, the scratches/gouges/scuffs/rub marks etc however were negligibly lessened. Still very happy for its condition overall. Will look killer once I get around to installing it.

    The part number:

    Looking good:

    You can see some imperfections:

    The top side:

    mmmm. Me likey shiny things.

Agreed. I woulda thrown that bumper on my CV and not cared about it not being perfect. That CV is already show worthy, more so when you get that bumper on there.

Thanks. I have box fever. It comes out in reflections of box parts. Can't help it.

Today I cleaned up the few rust spots on the back side. Scuffed the entire back side with a scotcbrite ball on a drill and then slathered on rust converter. Next step is rust encapsulator over the entire back side.

    I want it to last.

    Bumper complete.

Entire backside was coated to prevent future corrosion and just piece of mind. Next step will be placing this in the attic and getting the NOS rear smoothie bumper out for the same preservation treatment. Cannot hurt.

Took the car out for its maiden voyage of 2018. Also the first time out with the ported lower intake and things are leaner then I would like them to be. Some tune work to be done for sure. Knocked the rust off the rotors with MANY hard stops.

Some clips from the first go around:

Its kind of funny how much of an AOD that is. You can definitely hear the 1-2 slop shift under hard throttle. Sounds good otherwise.

More air = more fuel, so if its running lean thats a good sign your intake is better than it used to be.

That lens distorts distance a bit. I swore you were removing at least 4 mirrors in that last couple seconds.

^^^^^^^^^I closed my eyes and stuck my thumbs in my ears during the last few seconds myself^^^^^^^^^

I like how you gunned it a little when you saw the Foxbody; won't have to do that when you get the stick in there.

The way this AOD is set up is JUNK.

TMOSS ported gt40 lower. I am happy that it actually showed a difference. Was worth the money then.

Rear bumper needed some love. Looks like it was rusting a bit where the chrome process took place....

Glad that you bought that trunk trim. Hard to find part. They sure look bad when they peel.
