        5 speed transmission with overdrive? In 1957? Hm, never heard of that before.

              That's what I'm wondering, but unless they had some special adapters, it'd have to be something that would bolt up to an old Y-block...

                It has to be a newer tranny, I'm almost positive those trucks came with a stock 4 speed.

                      The F-700's and F-800's were available with a 5-spd overdrive and a 5-spd direct drive in 1957, which were both available as far back as when the trucks were still being named with single numerical digits. However, as far as I know the F-series wasn't available with the 312ci... I could be mistaken, but I thought they were only available in Ford's higher-end cars.

                      EDIT: and IMO that truck was better looking with its single rear axle. The Freightliner rear clip makes the truck look disproportionate.

                            did anyone else notice that first gear is on the lower right? is that the creeper gear and you normally start off in 2nd when not pulling or hauling anything?

                                1986 lincoln towncar signature series. 5.0 HO with thumper performance ported e7 heads, 1.7 roller rockers, warm air intake, 65mm throttle body, 1/2" intake spacer, ported intakes, 3.73 rear with trac lock, 98-02 front brake conversion, 92-97 rear disc conversion, 1" rear swaybar, 1 3/16" front swaybar, 16" wheels and tires, loud ass stereo system, badass cb, best time to date 15.94 at 87 mph. lots of mods in the works 221.8 rwhp 278 rwt
