A quart every 1500 miles is not bad. Now a quart every 600 miles? That's bad. Which is the primary reason that I do not have that car anymore.

No oil between changes for me on my 99... i did use 1 quart though on a 900 mile road trip... i was running the car for 18hrs straight though...
now my 5.0 town car was different story that think pissed oil2004 Mercury Marauder 25k

when i first got my 91 it had a valve cover leak. fixed that. it was dry then
then after a year of me beating the SHIT out of it... it burns alot, and blows it out of the dipstick tube. 1-2 quarts a month. drive less than 400miles a month. the odometer stopped at "14,xxx". that could have been 114 or 214, but it could have 200+ on it now either way. who knows. now, that is bad. but thats ok, my new set up that is goin in there is going to be nice and tight, for a couple years.
